Photos: Nigerian Referee Beaten Blue Black By Football Fans In Abuja

This is not new in our domestic league, but for so long now, it has not happened. It just started again. This is more reason you hardly see away win in our domestic league because the home fans might just bounce on the referee. According to Sunrise Sports Executive producer, Toyin Ibitoye, a center referee named Charles Ozigbo (pictured above) was assaulted by Nigerian football fans during a match between Rangers Bee of Kaduna and Kwara United of Ilorin in Abuja yesterday December 19th. The referee was reportedly attacked after he gave a penalty to one of the clubs. The supporters of the opposing club entered the football field and attacked the referee bringing the match to a abrupt halt. The match was subsequently cancelled. Photo below;
